My name is Sue Esterman and I have been a marriage celebrant now for over ten years. I am proud to be an independent celebrant, and I believe that helping couples create their wedding ceremony is both a great privilege and a real delight.
Your wedding should be hugely enjoyable, and as unstressful as possible, and that is what I aim to achieve in working with you – to create the perfect ceremony. I know that I can help you create that essential “specialness” which will make your ceremony memorable.
What makes you tick? What are your passions? Helping me learn about you makes it possible to weave some of those elements into your wedding ceremony.
Creating ceremonies which include aspects of your background and heritage is something I am often asked to do. I have a great deal of experience in working with couples where one partner is Jewish, and I enjoy the challenge of creating ceremonies which can interweave different traditions.
Sue is a fantastic celebrant who works alongside you in creating a special day. She was very open to incorporating what we wanted for our wedding day and understood the traditions we wished to include. Sue also came up with many ideas at times when we had no idea and was great at explaining the relevance of the traditions we were including and the values behind them.
Sue is a great friend to me and now also my wife and we could not have chosen anyone more perfect. Thank you Sue you are the best! We would most highly recommend using Sue in any ceremonies that you may be celebrating.” ~ Michael Gray
Sue conducted our marriage at the Begonia House in the Wellington Botanic Garden on 16 January 2016. We cannot speak highly enough of her professionalism and kindness.” ~ Andy and Mark Swan, Sydney.
Not a traditional couple? I am also a civil union and same-sex marriage celebrant.
I believe it’s important for you to find the right person to be your celebrant, and so our initial meeting is always arranged with no obligation on either party.
Maybe you are not looking for a wedding, in which case you could talk to me about – baby naming, renewal of wedding vows, funerals. My years of involvement in life-cycle events in the Wellington Jewish community has given me a great deal of experience in creating suitable welcomes and farewells on all kinds of occasions. In my private life, I am a librarian, musician and mad about food, books, family, travel and my chocolate labrador, Bella.
Many of our guests commented on how fun and “us” the ceremony was. We can’t thank Sue enough for her help in putting it all together. She was such a great calming influence in the weeks leading up to the wedding and was so enthusiastic about all our ideas. We couldn’t have asked for a better celebrant.” ~ Joanna and Andrew Lloyd-Jones
Any service conducted as well as Sue does would normally always deserve repeat business but after such a good job, that probably won’t be necessary.” ~ Shane Lust and Shelley Ashdown
We had such a fabulous day and the ceremony was a real highlight. We had so much fun doing our Dr Seuss vows, as we were going back to sign the register I remember saying to my new husband “That was awesome!” ~ Joanna Lloyd-Jones
Sue did a really fantastic job working with us in advance to make our wedding ceremony just right for us and our families, as well as making everyone feel comfortable and at ease on the big day. She is a great listener with a big heart who really helped make our day with her sense of humour, warmth and sense of occasion. We feel so very lucky to have been married by Sue!” ~ Miri Young and James Moir
Ben and Sarah wanted a simple but meaningful ceremony on the beach at Breaker Bay. Sue met with us and helped us put together a ceremony that was meaningful and unique. She wrote a beautiful introduction capturing the essence of what our partnership and nuptials were all about. She brought both wisdom and levity to our special day. We were so impressed with Sue that we asked her to repeat the ceremony in front of family flying from abroad several months later. We highly recommend her and the fact she has facilitated our nuptials twice is the biggest endorsement we could provide.” ~ Ben and Sarah
